How many lines in American football field?

American football is one of the popular sports in US and many other parts of the world. First football match of American football was held in 6th November, 1869. Since then, this football became very popular in US & Canada.



In this football match there are 11 players in each team. This field is 100 yards long and 60 yard wide. American football match looks very attractive and exciting. This sport originated from rugby & soccer. Walter camp who is known as father of American football changed some rules in 1880, eventually the concept of “downs” was created by him. In United States approximate 1.1 million high school athletes and 70,000 college athletes play this sport annually.

Field shape of this sport is rectangular, consisting 23 frame lines vertically, horizontally 2 other line sums up the rectangular field. But technically there are 320 more small lines in the field. In terms of broadcast viewership audience, American football is the most popular sports in United States. In American football league, there highest number of attendance of viewers in the world. This sport also known as most valuable sport league due to its annual revenue arriving at $15 Billion! “Super Bowl” which is known as its champion ship game ranks as most watched club sport around the world.

This football team consist of 3 categories of players. Such as Offensive unit, defensive unit & special team unit. Each of the unit plays different roll during the match.

Offensive unit focuses on moving ahead by crossing opponents while passing ball to each other or long pass.

Defensive unit players are bit stronger and bigger than other unit plyers. They play as defensive while opponent team tries to make score in their area. Defensive players try to hold and push back offensive players of opposite team.

Special team unit is also vital role player in this football game. They use extreme tactics to make score through rough pass, long pass, dodge other team players to reach at the end of opponent’s area and make point.

American football has been served by many celebrities in United states. Dwyane Johnson (The Rock) also played high school football in his early life. First ever professional football player in American football was “Pudge Heffelfinger”.
